TULSA, OK -- A 25-year old homicide suspect is dead after he is shot by police early Tuesday morning.
The shooting happened at the Cobblestone Apartments in 7600 block of East 51st Street.
Police say they were called to the complex at 1:45 a.m. A caller to police claimed one of the suspects from the shooting of 22-year old Mahdi Ouni Sunday at the nearby Westminster Apartments was at the Cobblestone Apartments.
Detectives began surveillance at around 2 a.m. Those officers called for additional police officers and it wasn't very long before the suspect, identified as Michael Buckner came out of an apartment and started talking with police.
When officers asked for him to put his hands up, Buckner refused and showed police a gun.
Police say Buckner refused to drop the firearm and police officers shot him in order to protect themselves. Buckner died at the scene.
"When officers approach a suspect especially a homicide suspect and he is now known to be armed and the situation is dark it's very hard to see what his actions are and it's a dangerous situation to be in," said Tulsa Police Captain Jonathan Brooks.
Police say Buckner was not alone in the apartment, several adults and children were inside as well. Those people are being questioned by police.

One less scumbag to worry about. Buy that man a donut, just think of how much he saved the state. No public defender fees to pay, no trial costs and no 40-50 years of free room and board!

Sounds like suicide by cop. He saved taxpayers a bunch of money. Too bad he took a life before he was shot.

And no complaining by the bleeding heart liberals and press that he was misunderstood, abused as a child and was really a good boy at heart. Kudos to the cops.
