    The only way to control a contact distance weapon is with physical contact. Not sure if it was the case here but folks think someone coming at them with a knife will fall like a pepper popper. Shot and move, shoot and move.

    I'm thinking Tueller drill here. 21 feet or closer and closing with a knife. It's self protection time.

    I prefer "if you have time to think about pulling the trigger you don't have to" at least that has been my experience.

    Judging by the pic of the house & trailer, the homeowner didn't have to go far to get to it. Wondering if he made the mistake of approaching the trailer w/out knowing where & how many BG's were outside. A set of bright flood lights mounted outside on a switch would likely have been enough to spook them. If you had to do something other than just calling 911, a verbal warning from the porch would be a good start. If the BG is intent on harming someone, at least he's coming to you and not the other way around. Just sounds like a bad situation overall.
