Good for the home owner. I was still in OK when they passed their version of the Castle Doctrine, of course the press dubbed it the "Make my day" law. Good to see it is alive and working well.

Yes, I remember it well (1983). Only thing was, around here the term "Make my day" resonates well with the people -- they LIKE it.
Anti-gunners seem to believe that if we just pass enough laws, we can have utopia. Unfortunately, utopia is NOT one of our choices.

The homeowner may need to practice a little more on accuracy.

Sounds like a drunken and lost teenager to me. I can't say I wouldn't have shot, but doesn't sound so good to me.

Tulsa World: Homeowner opens fire on intruder

BROKEN ARROW -- A 19-year-old man was shot several times by a homeowner Saturday night after he reportedly broke into the home, police said.

The victim, Stephen Richardson, was taken to an area hospital, where his condition was not immediately available.

Authorities said officers were dispatched at 9:40 p.m. to the home in the 3100 block of West Norman Circle.

Officers said Richardson reportedly was drunk when he entered the house, where the homeowner shot him.

Maj. Mark Irwin said Richardson “thought he was breaking into his (own) house.”

He said he wasn’t sure whether Richardson lived in the vicinity. Officers attempted to interview Richardson, but he was too drunk to be coherent, Irwin said.

    Police are investigating the shooting.

How about if he was headed down the hall to your daughter's bedroom?
He wouldn't get some 'cheese and wine' at my house...just lead, and lots of it.

I don't know what I would have done because I've never been in that situation, but if he wasn't being aggressive I would hope I would not shoot first. On the other hand, if he came in belligerent, than how else are you supposed to handle it?

[He thinks he's breaking into his own house?]

I've read that excuse on far too many reports; kind-a goes along with "He was such a Good Boy (tm), loved his Granny, was trying out for the Sports team,..."

    Stay safe,

Interesting how the focus is on the homeowner shooting the intruder several times, instead of the burglar simply being stopped before he could complete his felonious intentions. Subtle placement of doubt on the righteousness of the situation.
