Yep. :(
When not in use secure them securely and properly, even if there is no state or Federal law (yet!) requiring you to do so.
Just act right on your own without having to be chided and told.

Not too far from me, it's a bit of a rough school but nothing like this has happened there before.
It will be interesting to find out how she acquired the gun.
Gives new meaning to the term "cat fight." That is actually one I wouldn't want to spectate on.

I didn't see where the article said how she got the gun.
Maybe she bought it from a scum bag.
No issue about locking up the guns in that case.
It will be interesting to see the details of the story.
fortiter in re, suaviter in modo (resolutely in action, gently in manner).
what is this????
I thought schools were a gun free zone. did the shooter not relize that?

There are always too many Democratic, Republican and never enough U.S. congressmen.
Bad deal. Again....why are folks handing over more ammo to the anti's? The population will be demanding protection from the government. How will they do it? You know how.
I agree.Irresponsible gun ownership is unacceptable. My rights should not be jeopardized by stupid people.
Dillard has about 1,700 students. They don't pass through metal detectors, but officers are stationed on campus.
With all the gun laws and officers stationed on campus...didn't stop a determined criminal...did it?
Is there a Brady Bunch liberal anywhere...who gets it?
Is there an 'anti' politician anywhere...who is getting a 'sneak peek' at reality?

You could have had 50 SRO's on campus that day and they probably wouldn't have been able to prevent this. Short of running every student through a metal detector and doing a physical search you're not going to stop a student from brining something to school if they are determined to do it. As far as where the shooter got the gun from, it could have come from a number of sources, but keeping yours secured will probably keep it from ending up in the hands of someone like this.
The first time you aren't armed and prepared may be the last time you wished you were.
Having to bury one of your children is just about the most heart wrenching thing people can go through. And to have a child die in such a senseless fashion makes it worse, if that's possible.
Dang we need to lock our weapons up when not in use.
