The Orlando area continued today to inch toward a record-breaking year for homicides when a man was shot on a crowded dance floor in a South Orange Blossom Trail club.
Ewan Irving, 28, was shot several times in front of about 100 people at Rendez-Vous Bar Restaurant, 1025 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando police said. Emergency workers responded about 4:35 a.m. and pronounced Irving dead.
The club had been rented for a private party, and Irving was a guest, police said. Several armed private security guards also had been hired to police the event.
"There were plenty of witnesses, but nobody stuck around," police Lt. Darryl Braunskill said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the police or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered, and callers don't have to identify themselves.
