Carjacker Can't drive straight shift
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Police in Kansas City, Mo., said attempted carjackers were forced to abort their theft when the vehicle turned out to have a manual transmission.
Investigators said two males, an adult and a juvenile, approached a woman sitting in her car outside of a store at about 11 p.m. Monday and one of the suspects
pointed a gun at the woman, The Kansas City (Mo.) Star reported Tuesday.
The suspects ordered the woman to hand over her cell phone and exit the car, police said. However, officers said the suspects exited the car quickly after attempting to drive off because they were unable to work the manual transmission.
Police said two suspects in the crime were arrested shortly after the incident following a street robbery on the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus.

I must have been living on another planet
I cannot imagine some body not able to drive away a manual tranny. I am not saying shifting in style, but at least, go somewhere ...

Just think if it had been a column mounted stick shift. Now I have myself wondering if anyone still makes a column mount anymore!

You are old? I remember having to step on a pump on the floorboard to get windshield fluid to the wipers. OK so I was a boy and that was my Dad's car, but still....

yep, I remember the floor mounted dimmer switches, and the foot pump for the windshield wiper fluid. Of course I also remember a heater and radio being an option. Cars not having outside rear view mirrors and those new fangled things called turn signals! OK, I'll admit it, I'm getting to be an old fart! LOL

we are all getting older. What I really miss is the old style horn ring, you could hit it with the heel of your hand and never take your hand off the wheel, now its hard to hit the horn, sometimes I can't without looking.I think the new horns suck.sj
