GOOD:Home invasion victim fights back SC
By Anthony Miller - Live 5 News
GREEN POND, SC (WCSC) - "I wasn't trying to really kill anybody but I was trying to hit him"
That's what Willie Gadsden had to say about the attempted robbery at his Colleton County home Monday morning.
Police say a suspected thief tried to climb into his house through this back window.
Thanks to Gadsden, he didn't get very far.
"I heard the window went up - that's when I went and got my gun," said Gadsden.
"I had the gun on him, asked him if he was looking for something, and I popped him." said Gadsden.
After he shot, Gadsden said he ran to his front door only to see two people running in the woods.
Deputies say the suspected thief was shot and treated at the Colleton Medical Center and will be ok.
The Colleton County sheriff's office arrested three suspects in connection to the crime.
20-year-old Larry Speaks was charged with second degree burglary.
Two other juvenile suspects, one 15 the other 16, were also arrested and charged.
Gadsden says he was on guard because of other robberies in his tight knit community.
"I don't know if it's the same little group of people but it's been going on around this area for a good while," said Gadsden.
And while the father of four doesn't apologize for what he did.
"What was going through my head? It's either me or them," said Gadsden.
He hopes that 15-year-old who was shot reflects on this incident and takes a new lease on life.
"These young guys need to stop this while they have a chance, only God saved this guy yesterday. This is a wake-up call for him," said Gadsden.

Good the the home owner. The little scumbag is lucky to be alive. Maybe this will wake him up but, I doubt it.

He'll be back at it as soon as he heals and serves his 2 weeks probation.
I'm sure that wasn't his first...but hopefully, the next one WILL be his last.
Stay armed...no mercy...stay safe!

The homeowner is saying all of these things to the news? He's obviously not being very well-represented by legal counsel, yet. Though a "castle law" state, he might want to reconsider speaking such things to the press, including comments like "... and I popped him" and "... wasn't really trying to kill anybody."

Let me get this out of the way:
"He's a goooddd boy."
"He was planning on attending college in the fall."
"He had some bad companions."
(optional) "He wanted to be a rapper."

Maybe not...
I've never been shot at close range while I was climbing through a window, but especially at a young age, when you probably don't expect it, it must be worse than scary; and then there is the pain ...
and the nightmares especially if the wound is deep enough and the temporary or permanent incapacitation.
Maybe a 50% chance, I am generous on this Thanksgiving day !

The second rule: "Bring enough gun"

He has nothing to fear... BG was coming in the window at night. Justified.
You guys also need to realize that this small town is VERY small and rural. Green Pond is a dot on a map. These people are small town folk and speak their mind.

You got that right. I live in SC and didn't know where Green Pond was until I looked on a map a few minutes ago.

A dot an the map might be bigger than Green Pond!!!!!!
You are correct, if he was in fear of his life or those in his residence and the BG was coming in through the window he is justified.
