Does anyone know where (as in what city/state) this happened?

He may have had a "celebrity" permit to carry. Guess he should have worked a little harder to be familiar with his firearm before going to a nightclub with it.

He might be legal in NYC. As I understand it they have kind of flexible permit rules for "the right people".

Extraordinarily difficult to get a concealed weapons permit in the 5 boroughs, but possible. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess he didn't have one

This turned out to be a really failed joke. I actually thought the Giants were a baseball team, so I thought I'd over-exaggerate my lack of sports knowledge and pretend to think that the Giants were a Football team so I could say "I don't care about this guy" and "I don't care about typical sports" in one sentence.
Somehow I amused myself by knowing even less than I thought I did.
