Journalists become targets in Mexico's drug war

Title says it all.In Mexico if you report negatively about the drug cartels they will target you,I didn't print the story but a journalist was shot in his car while his 6 yr old daughter sat next to him, when his wife ran out the little girl was trembling in her seat(that really breaks my heart, she will be traumatized for life)Thugs like these are heartless cruel and need to be publicly hanged.I wish people would realise that when they leave you defenseless and take away your right to defend yourself everything else is subject to being taken away, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to be happy, etc.

Maybe if journalist (and I use the word loosely) here were targeted more often they would learn to report the news correctly!

Mexico is just about to become the Somalia of North America - if it hasn't already.

Yes, it is already, and that makes it one of our greatest national security threats---but someone our politicians ignore the problem.

Maybe what is needed is some sort of international agreement with the Mexican government for US military and law enforcement assistance--on a massive scale--in places like Juarez.

Mexico is a large lovely place with lots of resources and good people. Unfortunately, it suffers the fate of almost every country once ruled by Spain. Somehow, they can't move away from their history and into a new era.

EVERYBODY is a target. If you have half a chance at getting in the way, particularly if you're on the front-lines of defending, prosecuting or writing about it, and particularly if you're still breathing and know anything concrete, you're a target. Basically, that means anyone not inside the cartels is a threat. You, me and everyone else ... everybody. Get used to it. Until an all-out war is executed against these idiots, it's only going to continue to get worse.

i'd be more than willing to fight a war in mexico. they ain't too freindly with us, they actualy do harbor terrorists, and they are the single largest security threat to this country. the only reason iraq had more al-qeida than mexico is because its hard for AQI to leave when they're in saddams famous mass graves. sure saddam was an evil man who got what he deserved but he wasn't hostile to us, mexico is.
