GOOD: Man Helps Neighbor In Trouble - Wasilla, AK

Trapper Creek man is shot, then arrested: Mat-Su | adn.com

WASILLA -- A shootout at Trapper Creek on Sunday ended with one man both shot and then arrested after he and a neighbor faced off during a domestic dispute, Alaska State Troopers said.

George E. Blodgett, 52, was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries before being taken into custody on charges of attempted murder and assault, troopers said.

Blodgett -- and not the man who shot him -- was arrested because he fired first, troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said. Investigators will determine if the other man fired in self-defense, she said. His name is not being released because he is the subject of an ongoing investigation, Peters said.

According to troopers, the altercation started when Blodgett got into a fight with a woman at his home on East Wolf Trail in Trapper Creek. The woman left and went to a nearby house on Bradley Road where the other man lived, Peters said.

Blodgett followed her, pulled up to the house on a snowmachine and an argument started. Things escalated, and Blodgett fired multiple shots at the home and at the other man but did not hit him, Peters said.

The other man returned fire and shot Blodgett in the leg, troopers said.

Blodgett fled and turned up at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released. The hospital contacted troopers, who interviewed, then arrested Blodgett, Peters said.

Blodgett was convicted in 2005 on a charge of felony driving under the influence, and has also been arrested on numerous other charges including assault, according to an online state courts database. He was being held Wednesday at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer on $30,000 cash-only bail plus a court-approved third-party custodian.

Sounds applicable to me. The aggressor needs to do time.

$30K bail, despite a history of assault and being caught in the act of attempted murder?

Sounds like a loose cannon that need to go to jail for a long time. Only a matter of time before he kills someone.
