Two would-be burglars chose the wrong house to invade when they broke into an Inwood home early yesterday morning. They were greeted by the resident, who opened fire on them with his AK-47-style assault rifle, Nassau police said. It was 5:32 a.m. Sunday when the male resident, 36, "heard suspicious noises coming from the front door of his home, and armed himself with a Romanian SAR-1 rifle," a variant of the Soviet AK-47 assault weapon, a police report said. The two men "broke through the front door and were confronted by the victim, who shot four times toward the subjects," the police report said. The burglars ran off, apparently uninjured, and four rifle shell casings were later found at the house, police said. One of the men appeared to have been carrying a knife, the resident reported. Fourth Squad detectives are investigating.

Can almost promise that BG will not be reappearing at that home again.
Needs to work on his ambushing techniques and aim.

The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.
Four shots at the front door and nothing hit?
This guy need some HD/SD training and practice. I know the adrenaline hits hard, but he was waiting at the front door when they broke through...
Stay armed...get a shottie...stay safe!

4 shots at two BG's at close range and 0 hits???
Lose the AK and get an 870 with 00 buck
I sure am tired of the term assault rifle being used for a semi-auto rifle. I can't even afford another Semi-auto, let alone a real Assault Rifle.

When i took my CHL class here recently, one of my instructors said that #5 shot is the best shot weight to use for a close encounter with a scatter gun
I am confused......Nassau County, NY ???? Why wasn't the homeowner arrested ???? 1. Firing a weapon (outside a legally authorized range), 2. having a firearm without a permit, 3. having an assault weapon inside that particular county.......??? My wife is from there and I know the laws are draconian.
I hope he didn't have any close neighbors. I definitely would not want someone who was such a bad shot with a rifle firing off rifle rounds and missing.
I think its time for him to start looking at something in 12 gauge and make quite a few visits to the range.
At any rate, good for him.
