Not charged at this time?A Coolidge man was shot twice when he reportedly forced his way into a Gilbert house near Higley and Riggs roads Tuesday morning.
Richard Lopez, 24, knocked on the homeowner's front door in the 3000 block of East Ravenswood Drive sometime around 10:17 a.m. Gilbert police say that the homeowner armed himself when Lopez began kicking in the front door.
Lopez entered the house and, during the ensuing confrontation, he was shot in the face and his upper torso, according to Sgt. Mark Marino of Gilbert police.
Lopez then fled the scene and his brother, Mark Vega, 18, drove him to the hospital, according to a police report. Vega was taken into custody at Gilbert Mercy Medical Center, and Lopez was transported to Scottsdale Osborn Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police did not specify a motive for the break-in but they are investigating the brothers for possible involvement in burglaries in the East Valley, Marino said.
Marino said at this time the homeowner won't be charged by the Gilbert police.
Shot in the face and torso with non threatening injuries?what did he shoot him with a super soaker water gun,a paintball gun,a dart gun,a BB gun
"Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country,"
--Mayor Marion Barry, Washington , DC .
I guess this may make some headway in the 'which calibur' debate.
Maybe he winged him in the earlobe and grazed his shoulder or something. Either way, the BG was pretty lucky they homeowner wasn't a better shot.
Does anyone know what he armed himself with? From the description is almost sounds like a shotgun with birdshot.
Homeowner might want to think about upgrading from the .410 shotty for home defense!

He armed himself and stopped the threat! Isn't that the objective? Whatever he used, it worked!
Second hand report: he apparently had a shotty. Loaded with what???? Dunno yet...
The threat WAS stopped, just not permanently like Ted Nugent would recommend.
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."
