WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Worcester police say a clerk at city liquor store fatally shot a man trying to rob the store.

Sgt. Kerry Hazelhurst says the masked suspect was shot multiple times as he and an accomplice tried to hold up Big Bob's Liquors at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

The injured man, identified as 40-year-old Evan Louis Rivera, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 10:45 p.m. The other suspect fled on foot and is still at large.

Police say at least one of the suspects had a gun.

Police could not immediately identify the second suspect and did not release the name of the clerk.

The worker and another store employee were interviewed at police headquarters and have not been charged. Both employees are licensed to possess and carry guns.

It sure is nice to see the good guys win and not face charges. Plus one for armed citizens.

They didnt try to prosecute the shooter? Maybe there is hope for the NorthEast after all...

Too bad the 2nd BG didn't suffer the same fate.

Congrats to the armed clerk......but he should have made it a '2-fer'.

I am amazed that the shooter is not charged.
    Wait for it though...

Reason being in MA law when a person dies at the hand of another it is mandatory that there be a charge and court case.
I'll try to find the reference toward as much in the MA General Laws to confirm, or deny.

Good for the authorities for not releasing the GGs names. Hopefully "Big Bob" will retain them as employees.

Markey, Kerry and the Kennedy ilk are probably waiting to send that poor business owner up the river. With elected officials like those folks, who needs enemies?

The appropriate response, and result. Kudos to them for not being deterred and not being harmed.
