Homeowner Helps Catch Would-Be Burglars - Oklahoma City News Story - KOCO Oklahoma CityGood on the homeowner, but he should have had the 9mm when he went outside to investigate strange noises in the first place.CHOCTAW, Okla. -- A quick-thinking homeowner apparently saved himself from a burglary attempt.
Fred Gardner, of Choctaw, Okla., said that he heard someone in his garage and found two men trying to take his belongings when he went outside.
One man got away but the other alleged burglar is in custody at the Oklahoma County Jail.
Gardner said strange noises tipped him off that something was going on.
“I asked him what the hell he was doing and he said, ‘Cleaning the garage,’” Gardner said.
The homeowner said that he knew the man was trying to clean him out of all his property.
That’s when Gardner went back into his house and got out his 9 mm handgun.
“If I were younger I would have taken his head off. I was going to hold him until police got there, but he was gone,” Gardner said.
But the man didn't go very far. When Oklahoma County sheriff's deputies arrived to take the report, the suspect reappeared.
“At some point, they heard a dog barking, walked over and a person's head popped up and he took off," Deputy Mark Myers said.
The man was quickly arrested and deputies started a search for the other man.
Gardner said he’s missing a boat and some tools and his safe is damaged.
Deputies said the man already in custody is cooperating and he's admitted to several other robberies.

Congrats to this home owner, but if he HEARD a noise, why didn't he go investigate the matter armed?
He's lucky the two dirtbags didn't attack him.
Stay armed...it's better to have it and not need it...stay safe!
