Good Samaritan helps nab armed carjackers | Local News | KING5.com | News for Seattle, Washington
EVERETT, Wash. – Police say an armed carjacking that occurred Monday morning at a grocery store may have been a case of mistaken identity.
Two men face serious charges after police say they carjacked a 19-year-old Everett woman at gunpoint.
The victim says the men were calling her by someone else's name.
Police say she was with a couple friends grocery shopping. She walked back to her car and climbed in. Inside, two men hiding in the back seat grabbed her hair, pointed a gun and told her to drive
What the men didn't realize is that a Good Samaritan at the grocery store saw what happened and was on their tail, and on the phone with police. Driving down 112th Street, the Good Samaritan helped guide police officers.
Meanwhile in the car, investigators say one of the suspects told the other to shoot the woman in the head. The shot missed and blasted through the windshield.
Officers surrounded the car near Paine Field and the suspects gave up.
"I don't know what would have happened if that Good Samaritan hadn't followed that car,” Sergeant Robert Goetz said.
The two suspects were in court Tuesday. KING 5 News isn’t identifying them until they’re charged.
The father of one of the men hadn't heard of the arrests until we told him.
Lanelle Quinn knows both of the suspects and used to date one of them.
"It's just not in his character to do something so violent,” she said.
But the other suspect she says is violent.
"Absolutely, he has struck me before, he has hit me,” she said.
A search of court records reveals that man has a long criminal history, dating back to when he was just a kid.
The other also has a record but not as serious.
