Home Intruder Seriously Wounded in Shooting


CLAY COUNTY, Mo. – Police say a man who ran his truck into a rural Clay County yard and was banging on the front door was shot by the homeowner.

The man was seriously wounded Wednesday morning in the shooting at the home east of Kearney, Mo.

Authorities say a 40-year-old Imperial, Mo., man ran his truck nearly into the homeowner’s home and got out and was banging on the door. He was shot once by somebody inside.

A man was inside with his wife and two children.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department did not release any further details about the shooting early Wednesday, but sources tell NBC Action News the suspect managed to get the door open to the home.

The prosecutor’s office is reviewing the case Wednesday. Stay tuned to NBC Action News for more details as they become available.
