Guard injured in shooting at NW Harris gameroom

A security guard at a game room in northwest Harris County was wounded in a shootout with three masked men who tried to rob the business this morning, officials said.

Law enforcement officials said the men entered the Magic Game Room at Veterans Memorial Highway and West Road about 9 a.m. as workers were cleaning the building before the business opened.

They rushed through the opened back door yelling and later began shooting. The security guard, who has not been identified, fired three shots from his revolver.

The men, who wore camouflage clothes and face masks, retreated out the back door and fled.

The guard was wounded slightly in his left hand. No other injuries were reported.

The gunmen have not been found. No arrests have been made.

I was afraid I was going to hear a story about an unarmed security guard. Talk about one job I wouldn't take unless it had a two million dollar life insurance policy attached!

Good job on the part of the guard in managing to ward them off an only sustaining a hand injury. I'm glad it wasn't serious and I hope at least one of the bad guys got something to remember in return.

Robbing a "game room" before opening? I must be missing something, thinking arcade but maybe casino?

Game rooms are sort of casino's of quesitonable legality. You can run slot machines here but you cant pay out in cash. So you hit the jackpot and bring me your tokens. I then give you a nice set of luggage for those tokens. You then take the luggage to the pawn shop next door and sell it to them for cash. I then buy the luggage back from the pawn shop and use it to pay off the next winner. Repeat as necessary.
