Gun that killed child was stolen, police say

A man who was sought by police in the theft of guns, including a handgun that was used in the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old boy this week, surrendered Friday afternoon.
Kenneth Server is charged with second-degree burglary, false impersonation and possession of marijuana. He surrendered at the Tulsa Jail about 2:15 p.m., Officer Jason Willingham said.
Server was charged with a residential burglary in which three guns were stolen from a home in the 800 block of North Darlington Avenue on Monday. Police have determined that one of those guns was used in the fatal shooting of Jeffery Allen at his home, 822 N. Troost Ave., on Wednesday.
"We know that Server and this child's parents are associates," Willingham said. "How the gun got there, we don't know at this point. That is part of the ongoing investigation."
Police were dispatched to the burglary on Darlington Avenue on Monday. When they arrived, they attempted to stop a vehicle occupied by men they suspected were the burglars. After a short pursuit, police arrested Derrick Buchanan, 25, in connection with the burglary. Some records indicate that his last name is spelled Buchanon.
Server escaped arrest at that time, according to police and jail records.
Police first learned of Jeffery's shooting when his family drove him to Hillcrest Medical Center on Wednesday.
He was then transferred by helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in extremely critical condition with a gunshot wound near his left eye.
Jeffery,
who had Down syndrome, was pronounced dead at 8:29 a.m. Thursday, police said.
The child's family reported to police officers that he shot himself while playing with a handgun.
Investigators found a .22-caliber revolver in a bedroom, and police determined that the gun had been stolen in the burglary Monday.
The family has told police that it was not their gun and that one of their children may have found it outside their home, according to police. Records indicate the parents' names are Douglas Allen and Amber Jordan.
Child Crisis Unit detectives are investigating the death and interviewing people who were at the house at the time of the shooting.
Initial reports indicate that Jeffery's parents, as well as his three siblings, were home at the time.
