UPDATED: Police identify victim shot outside Lynchburg library
UPDATED TUESDAY: 11:45 a.m.
We now know who was shot yesterday at a Lynchburg library, but a gunman is still on the lose.
37-year-old Robert Lee Brown Junior of Lynchburg was shot outside the library on Memorial Avenue Monday.
Brown is in critical but stable condition at Lynchburg General.

Police in Lynchburg are investigating a shooting.
When police arrived at the Lynchburg Public Library around 4:13 p.m., they found a 37-year-old male who had been shot. He was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown.
Police say the victim was shot outside the library and then walked inside. The library was evacuated and closed as a precaution.
The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot towards Lakeside Dr. with four others.

On Monday, January 26, 2009 at approximately 4:13 p.m. the Lynchburg Police Department and the Lynchburg Fire and EMS Department responded to the Lynchburg Public Library at 2315 Memorial Ave. for a report of a shooting. Officers found a 37-year old black male inside the library who had been shot. He was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment; his condition is not available as of the time of this release.
The suspect was shot outside the library and then went inside after he was shot. The Lynchburg Public Library was evacuated and closed as a precaution by the police department.
Information gathered at the scene indicates that the individual responsible for the shooting is described as a young black male wearing bright red pants and a black hoodie. The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot towards Lakeside Dr. with as many as four other black males.
