Hartford police said they arrested two men who tried robbing two Trinity College students at gunpoint early this morning.
Chaise Pressey, 20, and Carl Cirton, 22, are being charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, possession of a handgun, reckless endangerment and weapon in a motor vehicle.
Pressey is also charged with possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
The robbery occurred around 2:50 a.m. on Crescent Street, police said. The students didn't have any cash to hand over and the suspects fled the scene, police said.
A description of the vehicle they rode off in was broadcast to police. When officers stopped a car matching the description, they found the two suspects, a sawed-off 12-gauge shot gun and a .32 caliber hand gun.
The suspects were positively identified using video surveillance footage from the area, police said.
