Customer wrestles down axe-wielding man at store
BURIEN, Wash. -- A man is being hailed as a hero after helping disarm a man who walked into an auto parts store and began swinging an axe Monday evening.
Witnesses said the man tried to reach a generator located at the the Schucks Auto Supply store at 155 1st Avenue South by using the axe to cut off a cable that was holding it in place.
The clerk offered the man a new generator she had in the back room but he refused, witnesses said. When she asked him for identification, the man began swinging the axe about.
"He was really out to hurt somebody,"said Leonard Lucas, a customer.
And that person happened to be Lucas himself.
"I was just watching what was going on and the guy swung at me," he said.
The axe grazed Lucas across the chest, but he was not badly hurt. With the attacker coming at him, Lucas ran out into the parking lot.
"He kept saying 'you want something?' (I said) 'No, I don't want anything,"' he said.
An employee followed the pair out into the parking lot and managed to grab a hold of the axe.
"The moment he grabbed the axe, that's when I grabbed the man," Lucas said. "The man was going to hurt somebody - either he was going to hurt them (or) he was going to kill them. He was going to do something, so (I) had to do something."
Lucas wrestled his attacker, pinning him against a nearby SUV. He then punched him to the ground and held him until invetigators arrived.

Somebody comes in a store with an axe and starts cutting a cable off a display item and the sales clerks response is not to call 911 immediately but to offer the guy a new generator in the back. You gotta be kidding me.Axe boy is lucky he didn't swing at a customer with a concealed handgun or he mighta been axing for more than he bargained for

I was about to post this. I know a guy that works there and he called me about it (he wasn't working, he arrived after the fact).
Crazy.

Agreed 100%.
I read that part about offering him another from the back and literally I laughed out loud.
