Phoenix has new distinction.

For the second time this evening ABC is running a news story on Phoenix and its new distiction as the kidnapping capital of the US now.

It has the 2nd largest number of kidnappings in the world apparently last year, 370 of them. It seems local officials and police have asked repeatedly for help from the Feds, but are not getting much help.

Much of this has to to with the Mexican drug cartels coming across the southern border.

It's ALL illegal immigrants. They pay the smuggler (coyote) to bring them across, then are held for additional ransom from their families. I guess the scam isn't known about south of the border, but it's causing a nightmare for us here. They are not being kidnapped in Phoenix, but on the way up. Only their safe houses are here.

Did the fact that they call it a "Home Invasion Task Force" scare anyone else? Or that the link underneath read "U.S. Guns Arming Mexican Drug Gangs; Second Amendment to Blame?"
