Police: 17 year old shot when he pointed gun
February 16, 2009 - 8:33 AM
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Two teenagers face charges in an armed robbery that led to one of the suspects getting shot.
Investigators say 17-year-old Chad Brown and a 16-year-old robbed a pizza delivery driver Friday night at gunpoint. It happened on Bradford Street in Grand Rapids.
Officers arrested the 16-year-old, but Brown took off running.
Police say Brown had a gun in his hand and pointed it at officers, so an officer shot him in the leg.
Brown is charged with armed robbery and felony firearms.
The 16 year old will be charged as an adult.
"shot him in the leg"
Bad shot? Very good shot?
"Brown took off running... and pointed it at officers" Something missing here.

You probably shouldn't point a gun at cops if you don't want to get shot.

I'm inclined to believe the officer just hit him with a lucky shot. If he was aiming at the perps leg he was just plain stupid.

I would say lucky shot also. To hit the leg of a perp running would be an incredible feat.

The police are not taught to shoot for the leg... the 17 year old best thank God the officer missed! He gets another chance to NOT be stupid.

And people wonder why they just didn't wing em or shoot em in the leg jeeeez this officer shoots a guy in the leg and still gets criticised for it LOL.I would say if he hit the guy in the leg he needs more time at the gun range

I am sure they were aiming COM and missed or was unholstering and raising arm when he pulled the trigger.
