* Gunman robs bank in Temple Terrace
TAMPA, FL (AP) -- Tampa Police are searching for a man who robbed a mother and her children at a Bank of America ATM on February 12.
According to police, the man drove through the ATM at the bank located at 3439 W. Hillsborough Avenue and pretended to use the ATM.
Shortly after 8:00pm, the victim pulled up to the ATM to make a withdrawal. The suspect pulled into the adjacent bank lane and waited for the woman to complete her transaction.
Before the victim could leave, the suspect ran in front of her car and pointed a gun at her.
The victim threw the money out of the window and drove away.
An ATM camera captured the suspected pretending to use the ATM.
The suspect is described as a black male, aged 18-25, 160-170 pounds, with a light-to-medium complexion.
The man was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with the initials "SCSU" on the front. He also wore a glove only on his left hand.
His car is described as a silver, four-door, Nissan or Toyota-type sedan with a rear spoiler.

The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.
My gun is unholstered and on the passenger seat or in my lap whenever I'm at a drive through ATM. Before approaching the machine, I drive around the bank, looking behind canopy support columns, bushes, etc., especially at night. When at the machine, I keep the car in gear, ready to bail out of the transaction if things go south.
A friend of mine was at a drive up ATM a few years ago. A car came in and parked behind his. The driver and passenger both got out and were walking up each side of his car. He raised his .45, one of them yelled "gun," and they were out of there, peeling rubber in reverse!
8pm....enough said. Bank's closed, less traffic for a getaway. If you have to use an ATM then go into a WalMart or gas station and pay the 2-3 dollar fee. Is your life worth the 2 to 3 dollars you're saving???

To this day...I have never used an ATM...
They'll soon be having 'take a robber number' at the local ATM to control the crime.
Stay armed...PLAN AHEAD...stay safe!

Said it before and I'll say it again, if you go to an ATM at night, you are inviting the BG's to come visit you.
"Without fear there can be no Courage!"
It would have to be pretty dire for me to hit the ATM at night. However, if I did, I just learned some things to do. Man I love this forum.
Prior Planning Prevents P...-Poor Performance...we can all usually avoid walking/driving into a potential ambush site like ATM's, but if it's inevitable go in prepared with an IA plan ready to be initiated.
The first time you aren't armed and prepared may be the last time you wished you were.
I'd have to say, given the circumstances (unarmed and having just used the ATM) the reaction was quite appropriate.
"and suddenly I can not hold back my sword hand's anger"
Well if he was in front of the car I'd drive over him if I was alone.
My kids in the car and he's getting the money, I think the Mom did good.
