    NO 3rd party disputes

The power of imagination is the key to life.

It helps you think ahead, consider the possibilities, and prepare you for the future.
If you lack that ability, you're no different from livestock trapped behind a fence.

A lot of good points have been made in this thread. I have not perceived anything as 'heat' - just frankly expressed positions about the subject.

If I'm coming across as 'heat', I apologize that is/was not my intent.

After rereading the original article this is what I think. My thoughts in italics.
First the author (not OP) should be hung for poor writing and composition.

In examining the second to last paragraph we find the phrase, "In the same incident" ( I believe this is refering to the second incident mentioned in the paragraph above) the bullet struck the seat back. (seems like they should still have penetrated better, but I degress)
Then later in the same paragraph it says "In THIS incident all shots passed through the windshield or the rear window." I think this is refering to the incident that the main story is about. Note, how could the shots strike the seat back if coming from the front and rear windows, front would strike BG first before seat.

After re-reading I am pretty sure that all rounds passed through one windshield and maybe both front and back before striking the BG.

Shooting under the car was a good solution

There's no way an unimpeded .40 cal would be stopped in one inch of a human being. As Pgrass101, and others, indicate, something affected the bullets before they struck the BG.

Makes me want to learn to shoot skeet with a handgun!!! That would get you skilled on fast moving accurate head shot placement better than anything.
