GOOD: Armed Homeowner Stops Intruder - Shreveport, LA

KSLA News 12 Shreveport, Louisiana |Shreveport homeowner shoots, wounds burglar

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A man police say was trying to rob a house ended up in the hospital after he was shot by the homeowner.

It happened just after midnight Friday morning in the 2800 block of Corbitt Street.

Police say the homeowner entered the house and discovered 28-year-old Fredrick Dickerson inside. Police say the homeowner grabbed a gun and shot Dickerson in both legs.

Dickerson managed to run away but was caught just around the corner.

Police say he could be connected to other crimes in the area.

"Our detectives did locate some other items on his person that may have been stolen in other crimes," said Shreveport Police Corporal Bill Goodin.

Dickerson was taken to LSU Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. After he was treated for his wounds he was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on a charge of attempted burglary.
    Good on the homeowner.

Damn right. I dont think I would have been so generous, as far as just flesch wounds to the legs, if one is going to steel from me and I catch em. Espicially in my own house where I and my family sleep they are taking a risk. The odds are in my favor as far as I am concerned. There is no honor among thieves. They get what they deserve!

It's unfortunate that the homeowner purposely aimed for both legs. Deadly force is deadly force. Hopefully the homeowner changes his ways.

I would be worried about revenge in this case. The homeowner need to be on his guard.

Very lucky criminal I don't shoot at appendages on purpose,if BG had gun the story might be different, also note that even tho he had bullet wounds to both legs he managed to run off

This reminds me of the episode of "Boston Legal" where Denny Crane shoots the would be mugger in the knee and both feet! That kind of gunshot wound HAS to hurt very badly!
