National Guard to pull out of New Orleans, 3½ years after Hurricane Katrina -- Newsday.com
"NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Three and a half years after Hurricane Katrina, the National Guard is pulling the last of its troops out of New Orleans this weekend, leaving behind a city still desperate and dangerous. Residents long distrustful of the city's police force are worried they will have to fend for themselves.
"I don't know if crime will go up after these guys leave. But I know a lot more of us will be packing our own pieces now to make sure we're protected," said Calvin Stewart, owner of a restaurant and store........"
Sounds like a few have a clue and are ready to take responsability for thier own protection. Also looks like trust in thier police force is still an issue too.......
"Just getting a concealed carry permit means you haven't commited a crime yet. CCP holders commit crimes." Daniel Vice, senior attorney for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, quoted on Fox & Friends, 8 Jul, 2008

One would have to be a fool to go anywhere in N.O. without a gun.
I would rather stand against the cannons of the wicked than against the prayers of the righteous.

They have to go train to walk down the street of some other city in America.
You know, for civil unrest and all.

You're telling me that the Louisiana National Guard has been mobilized in New Orleans for three-and-a-half years? I had no idea. Man would I be one pissed weekend warrior if that happened. I wonder what the casualty rates were?
But if you are authorized to carry a weapon, and you walk outside without it, just take a deep breath, and say this to yourself...

Is this hard to understand? Then why does it get unintelligible to some people when 5 little words are changed?

I wonder how much three years of N.G. mobilization has cost the taxpayer.
"Run for your life from the man who tells you that money is evil. That sentence is the leper's bell of an approaching looter. So long as men live together on earth and need means to deal with one another-their only substitute, if they abandon money, is the muzzle of a gun."

I think NO should ask if you are armed before you enter the city if you say no, they should have loaner guns you can borrow,It's the neighbourly thing to do

I grew up in N.O., spent most of my life there ,and love that place. There is nowhere on Earth I'd rather be. However, it is a very dangerous place. Like someone posted above.

If the N.G. had been used properly, N.O. would be down about 25k in population, but it would be a much nicer place.
