The Bad: Richmond (KY) man shot in gun sale gone wrong

    Press release
    courtesy of
    Sergeant Willard Reardon
    Richmond Police Department

RICHMOND - The Richmond police department is investigating a shooting where an attempted gun sale apparently went wrong.

Police say the incident occurred early Sunday at approximately 1:30 a.m. when officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Turpin Drive to investigate a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers met with a 46-year-old male victim that was suffering from a gunshot wound to the right forearm.

The victim reported that he was inside his apartment when a slender white male that was unknown to him came to his door and attempted to sell him a firearm.

The victim stated that he told the male he did not want to buy the firearm and attempted to push him from his apartment while shutting the door.

At this point, the evicted male fired at least five rounds into the door, one of which penetrated and struck the victim in the forearm.

The victim was transported to UK Medical Center to be treated for the gunshot wound. A subsequent search of his residence produced numerous items of drug paraphernalia and suspected cocaine. An investigation is ongoing.

    Suspect, and stupid.

What happened was a drug buy, that went wrong.
He calling the cops to report it, at his own place, was stupid.

Nice try with the BS story. An obvious attempted drug deal or perhaps a "messenger" of some sort.

Well come on, you want him to just come out and say " I got shot in a drug deal that went bad."?

This is a pretty anti-gun area. Anything that can be made to look like it was a gun or gun related crime makes it all the more popular with the anti's.
