SUFFOLK, Va. - A Suffolk church pastor was at work when police say two men robbed him at gunpoint.

Police say at around 9:45 p.m. on Monday, March 16, the two suspects entered the New Life Suffolk Church on East Constance Road. The church pastor was working in an office at the time. Investigators say one of the suspects had a gun.

The suspects stole a CD burner and four laptop computers.

They put the pastor in a back room, then left.

Police have a very general description of the suspects. If you can help them with this case, call the Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up.

Don't these guys know it's unlawful to carry a firearm into a church in VA.
Didn't they see the gun free zone statement at the front door. Do they not read the newspaper and keep themselves abreast of their states laws?
Besides, nobody needs a gun at church anyway!

    Janq,

Its not unlawful. per the Va Code: Carrying dangerous weapon to place of religious worship while a meeting for religious purposes is being held unless you have "good and sufficient reason." There is no knowndefinition of what a good and sufficient reason would be. Violation is a minor crime, punishable by a fine of up to $100.

Janq, they were covered by the law, in their opinion robbery was "good and sufficient reason."

Correct, as long as they are not in the process of committing a crime be it involving direct use of the as carried firearm or not per VA law...such as they were which then eliminates the 'good and sufficient reason' lawful escape of the clause.

Now if only Brady and others could know this _and_ would understand it.

The dirtbags seem to multiply in troubled times.
Had this pastor been armed, perhaps he could have helped a couple of troubled souls meet Jesus.

Send the robbers up here to Minnesota, we have a lot of very progressive "social issues" churches that deify victimhood. They'd love to have a shooting at their facility, so they can go on the talk-show circuit and become featured speakers at anti-gun rallies.

I'm sure they are very envious of that lucky preacher, and in their case they wish for a more gruesome ending that is necessary for capturing the world spotlight.

I'd LOVE to hear how that conversation would unfold.

JC: Welcome to the gates of Heaven, would you like to come in?
    BG: Yes, sir I would!
JC: Well, tell me how it is you come to stand before me now?
BG: Um... well, I uh... You see it's like this...
JC: Don't bother, I already know. You tried to rob one of my messengers, thus taking money from that church which would be used to spread my message of my Father's love. Isn't that right?
    BG: Yes, sir it is
JC: I knew it. You see I as God made men, but Sam Colt made men equals. Apparently you forgot that fact.
BG: Apparently I did, I'm sorry?
JC: So am I my son, so am I.
