Man shot in Wal-Mart parking lot, police say

LITTLE ROCK — A would-be victim turned the tables on a would-be robber in the Wal-Mart parking lot at the intersection of Cantrell Road and Chenal Parkway in Little Rock on Monday night, according to a Little Rock police report.

About 11:30 p.m., John Antonetz, 63, and his wife, Lydia Pace-Antonetz, 57, were loading groceries in their car when a man attempted to rob them at gunpoint, according to the report from the Little Rock Police Department.

While the man struggled with Pace-Antonetz for her purse, Antonetz grabbed his concealed .357 revolver, according to the report. He told officers he fired four times at the man before he fled in a car driven by another person, the report said.

Police arrested Johnathan Terry, 24, of England, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences on Tuesday morning and charged him with aggravated robbery, according to a report. Sherry Battles, 25, of North Little Rock, was also arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, disorderly conduct and obstruction of government operations.

    Terry’s condition is unknown.

Read tomorrow's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for full details.

Looks like Crime in Little Rock is a dangerous business.

Too bad he survived...it should be a more dangerous business everywhere.

I don't think they are aware of the Wal-Mart walk or the map.

Does anyone remember if "Shooting a mugger in self defense" was on the Wal-Mart bingo card. If it isn't it should be. You should automatically win if you get it.

Man, that's amazing! Tough to tell from that article if the perp was hit with any or all of the 4 shots? I hope if I ever need to use my .40, the rounds end up in the target. No substitute for range time!

If A man was shot he had apparently been hit with at least 1 round, but at point blank range I would expect 4 for 4 .I also have to say not everybody practices or shoots there gun after getting their permit. It was a good thing this guy took the steps to insure his and his wifes safety

I'm guessing the last 3 shots were to keep the fellow motivated!

Bravo! Another GG, CCW licenseholder protecting himself and his kin from a BG scumbag. Bravo!
IMO, this story illustrates 2 important points:
    1. People are getting fed- up and are tired of the bs, so if you're BG you might want to rethink a new career path.
    2. The importance of plenty of range time.

Well, hopefully he'll have to empty a colostomy bag everyday for the rest of his life. Robbing someone twice your age... that's just crazy! Too bad he missed out on a dirt nap!

According to the TV news the BG was "shot in the rear end".

I shop there at that Walmart a good bit. I am glad our fellow was prepared.
