Man fends off knife-wielding intruder during home invasion - KFOR

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A Metro man takes on a man with a knife and wins. Maurice Johnson was catching up on some sleep Thursday afternoon when his burglar alarm sounds. He awakes to a man in his house in the 4300 block of North Blackwelder.

"I see a guy in a big black jacket holding a knife about that size and he tells me basically turn the alarm off and give me money."

Johnson, keeping his wits about him, tells the man to follow him to the back bedroom where there may be some cash.

The suspect keeps the knife held tightly against Johnson as they walk through the house.

Johnson says he pretends to rifle through his drawer to get money but got his gun instead and fires a shot at the suspect.

The suspect takes off immediately. No word on if the suspect was hit.
Would have been a better story if the homeowner had the weapon on his person, then he wouldn't have been in such a dangerous situation.

Would have been a better story had the home owner gotten a better shot and either wounded or left the body for the crime scence folks.

    Still good news

Home invasion are happening more and more often. If you have one, keep it with you, it won't do you much good in the safe, or the back bedroom. He got real lucky...

This EXACTLY why I have a weapon either on my person or within reach whenever I'm at home.

-1 for keeping his gun so far away from him.

+1 for keeping cool and level-headed!

You know what's funny, people know we have a law called the MAKE MY DAY LAW. Yet they still break into occupied houses. If they are in your house without permission and committing a crime they are fair game. Just make sure they don't make it out of the house.

Yes, too bad he didn't have it on him.

Maybe could have unloaded it on the BG, making sure he does this to NO ONE else.
