The .50 cal round (the Army uses the M107 for this round in a sniper role) is designed for long range and material targets (such as trucks and other soft skin vehicles. Personnel engagement is one of its roles and it can certainly get the job done). The 338 is a great round, but for a different purpose as it cannot devastate vehicles in the same way. The 416 has recently come to challenge the 50 as it has a flatter trajectory and still packs a significant punch. As for detached retina's, I've shot a lot of .50 and my retinas are still fine haha.

Another animation showed shots through a forward window on the lifeboats cabin....no such window exists as a photo of the actual boat reveals. An original report stated that two of the pirates momentarily showed thier head & shoulders through a hatch....Pow X 2 ! That sounds credible.

In any case, kudos to the calm, cool & collected SEALS!! A hearty Well Done.
An animation is just that, I understand they were slowly pulling in the towed boat closer for a better chance of a kill.
