Cops wound Bx. gunman
Cops shot and wounded a Bronx man early yesterday morning after he pointed a gun at his girlfriend and her family and threatened to shoot them, authorities said.
Responding to a 911 call, officers burst into the family's apartment on Willis Avenue near East 146th Street, and ordered Yancy Jiminian, 21, to drop the gun. When he raised the weapon, police said, the officers fired two shots. Jiminian allegedly returned fire, and the cops fired 10 more shots, striking him once in the hip.
He was charged with attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
12 shots and once striking him in the hip? COM people!!

More than one cop?
Twelve shots fired?
Only 'one hit' inside the apartment (certainly within range)?
Someone needs some additional range time...
"That I cannot do."

I won't argue with this, but I can't help but wonder what my accuracy would be like if I was being shot at.

I'm starting to wonder if Bloomberg wants to keep civilians unarmed so they won't show up NYPD in accuracy...

That wasn't high end 50 years ago. I'm surprised they don't need 3 in a car, at least.

I have never been shot at, well not at close range.
I suspect the entry and the return fire would get the adrenaline way up; not good for accurate fire

12 shots and only one hit him? You have to be kidding. How did they keep from hitting other people if they couldn't even hit the guy they were "aiming" at?

Makes you wonder how much time they spend on the range.

There are gunranges in NY? I say this jokingly, but seriously how many do you think, that arent police ranges, are there?
I know not what this "overkill" means.
Honing the knives, Cleaning the longguns, Stocking up ammo.

Do you think the guy was just standing there waiting to be shot? Do you think the cops were also just standing straight up? I'm sure there was a lot of movement during this gunfight.

It is better to die with a weapon in hand than to live with hands raised. (Meir Feinstein, 1947) ...But is far better to raise your hands with a weapon in them and assume a classic Weaver or Isosceles (BenGoodLuck, 2007)
