Let's start with a million, pay off the military for the costs incurred, the shipping companies for their costs and lost profits, throw in a few bucks for suffering for the seamen and their families, then let the useless parent of the useless pirate, keep the "hope and change" that's left.

I'm sure that before BO pays the "compensation" for her son, he will apologize to the world for taking him prisoner to begin with! Then he will apologize to the families of the three dead pirates for the fact that our Navy Seals took them out!

I say pay them the millions they are requesting in this way, open a bank account, deposit the money they are requesting into it. Then withdraw the money for all costs the U.S. incurred freeing the captain, then the costs of ligation and defending this young man in our courts. Then withdraw the annual cost the taxpayers of this nation will incur keeping this pirate in jail. Then when this young man dies in our prison system they can have what ever is left over and if the account is in the negative, bill the families for the remainder.
Sounds fair to me.
