Four teens — one of them 15 — were arrested Wednesday on a charge of felony murder in a deadly shooting that started as a robbery, Orange County investigators said.
Kalvin Beazer, 17, was found wounded about 4:20 p.m. Sunday on a sidewalk near Edgewood Ranch Road and Jaffa Drive, north of MetroWest. He was pronounced dead at Health Central hospital in Ocoee.
Investigators said Beazer and four friends tried to rob Andrew Estime, 17, who resisted and shot Beazer in self-defense
The four suspects face one count each of felony murder because they were involved in a crime that led to a death, sheriff's spokesman Jim Solomons said. He did not say how the teens were implicated.
Kevin Beazer, Kalvin Beazer's father, said Wednesday that he had no sign his youngest son was involved in a robbery when he was shot.
"I've been hearing all different kinds of stories," Kevin Beazer said. "That isn't one of them."
Gordon Daniel, 17; Trevien Harrold, 17; Dvaris Roberts, 16; and Judge Ware, 15, all face felony murder charges. They were booked into the juvenile-detention center.
Florida Department of Law Enforcement records show that Harrold, Roberts and Ware also face charges of robbery with a firearm. FDLE records show that all of the teens but Daniel have prior arrests, but none of them has been convicted
