Woman shot 5 times in serious condition; arrest made

APPLE GROVE, W.Va. — A 19-year-old woman arrived at a Mason County ambulance station with five gunshot wounds Thursday morning, according to 911 centers in Mason and Cabell counties.
The injured woman, Kaylahni Kensler, arrived at the Valley EMS station along W.Va. 2.
A Mason County squad provided basic life support aboard its ambulance until that squad arrived at the Mason-Cabell county line. The victim was transferred via HealthNet helicopter to St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington.
Cabell County EMS provided assistance, but its advanced life support squad was not needed due to HealthNet's response. Cabell County 911 received the call for additional assistance at 5:47 a.m.
According to the Mason County Sheriff's Department, Kensler is in serious condition.
The sheriff’s department arrested Marshall Siders, 18, also of Apple Grove, in connection with the shooting. He is charged with attempted murder and malicious assault.
Siders is lodged in the Western Regional Jail on $1 million bond.
