FWIW - NC has no citizen's arrest despite what Gomer Pyle said on The Andy Griffith Show.
We don't, but we have the power to detain. It was explained to me that the biggest difference is that we can't actually transport anyone TO the cops, we have to detain and wait to turn them over to the arriving LEOs.

And yeah, considering the nature of his crime and the fact that he knows where to find his victim (and stated that he'd intended to kill her), why on earth is he walking around?

The judge set the bond at $800,000. Jansen paid the bond and was released.

Should have been a cash only bond.

    Should have been NO bond.

Hmmm... just heard on the news that this may be a fraud... she has apparently filed false rape accusations at this guy before...

How many rapists get a second date...?

Seems there's more to this story than what we have heard.

As for the pizza dude, he did great. He saw a possible threat, kept his poker face on, called cops, and made sure the BG (maybe?) didn't go anywhere while the cavalry was on it's way.

Where did you hear that? I just did a quick google and haven't found anything other than the original article.

hears a story on it from a Knoxville news agency

An Atlanta woman who claims she was kidnapped, driven to the smoky mountains, and raped has filed claims in the past that turned out to be false.

A pizza delivery man was credited with helping save that woman from her alleged attacker, David Jansen last week at a cabin in Sevier County. Click here to read the previous story.

10News has learned the same 24 year-old woman in that case has previously filed three similar claims in three different Georgia counties.

Court documents show that after the woman claimed she was assaulted in 2006 in Fannin County, authorities later arrested her for filing a false report of a crime and making a false statement.

Her public defender in that case filed a motion asking that she undergo a mental evaluation, and another motion stating that the results would be used in her defense.

Prosecutors filed documents giving notice that they would use a similar case from 2005 in Cherokee County against her.

In November of last year, the woman agreed to a plea deal in the Fannin County case, and is still serving a one-year probation.

Knoxville attorney Don Bosch is representing the man accused in the case that ended in Sevier County last week.

He told 10News, "We have been aware of these past charges and convictions of (the woman) and a number of other highly unusual facts surrounding these allegations for several days."

"We are preparing a motion for filing that will address this and a number of other relevant issues related to our client's bond status and innocence. We expect this motion to be filed later this week. We have no further comment at this tim

Whoa. That really changes things. So what, she was tied up as some sort of "game" and decided to do this? I don't understand.

    PointnClick sez...

Yanking a pistol would have been a bad call... this coulda been a kinky exhibitionist thrill game, for all he knew. Who leaves a kidnap victim in view of the front door...?
Toldja... this thing doesn't pass the smell test...
