    The criminals are not convicted, and the citizens cannot carry handguns, the best weapon to carry for personal protection under most circumstances.

    Why do I expect BC crime rates to keep going up?

    Can someone explain this? Is there some loophole that all the criminals use? I assume this applies to low level stuff, no one injured and so on. But a firearm is a deadly weapon, hence any crime committed with one even when it's not discharged is that much more grave, yes?

    And while I think you should enforce the laws you have, if your laws are that easy to circumvent it might just be time to give them another look. Or at least let everyone know what the loopholes are, so they can decide for themselves if they want to chance it to protect themselves. Or Canada could go REALLY crazy and allow Joe Citizen (Canadian equivalent?) to carry...
