Gunman Shoots 2 at Arkansas Military Recruitment Center - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com

DEVELOPING: A gunman opened fire Monday at an army recruitment center in Little Rock, Ark., killing one army recruiter and seriously wounding another, FOX16.com reported.

A man in a black SUV drove to the recruitment office and began shooting at around 10:19 a.m., a spokesman with the Little Rock police department told FOX News.

The suspect, who immediately fled the scene, was later apprehended approximately four miles from the center with an assault rifle in his vehicle.

Little Rock authorities detected a "suspicious device" inside the vehicle and called a bomb squad to the scene, according to FOX16.com.
"Run for your life from the man who tells you that money is evil. That sentence is the leper's bell of an approaching looter. So long as men live together on earth and need means to deal with one another-their only substitute, if they abandon money, is the muzzle of a gun."

Update: Army Recruiter Killed In LR Shooting - todaysthv.com | KTHV | Little Rock, AR

Police say the suspect, Abdulhakim Margahid Muhammad, also known as Carlos Bledsoe, is believed to have been specifically targeting military personnel. Authorities say Muhammad apparently acted alone in the shootings. He is being charged with one count of Capital Murder and 15 counts of terroristic threatening. Police searched Muhammad's apartment off Mara Lynn Drive Monday afternoon, seizing evidence related to the shooting.

    Great.

I wonder how many other murders will take place by Muslims acting "alone".

There was another story that stated he had an SKS, a .22 rifle (no specification), and a pistol.

Really messed up, at any rate. I'm sure MSNBC will run a story about "Misunderstood Freedom Fighters - how can we change to offend them less?"

The FBI has opened an investigation into the incident, said Steven Frazier, spokesman for the agency's Little Rock office. "Based on what we find, we will determine whether there is any federal jurisdiction to prosecute," he said.
It was a terrorist act against military personnel, what's to investigate! Let him be tried by a military court martial board, I think I know what the verdict and sentence would be!

This sort of stuff is just as messed up as those guys they arrested who were planning to attack Fort Dix. Seriously, why would you do that? Some people are just really messed up.

I hope this guy is just an isolated nutjob and it won't spawn a spate of copycat attacks and possibly a wave of new tactics by al-qaeda type organizations.

BAD - Recruiting Center Gunman Targeted U.S. Military

Recruiting Center Gunman Targeted U.S. Military - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com

I have very little mil experience here so try not to laugh at this question, since he did this at a military recruiting station, couldn't he be tried in a Military Court? What about Federal Court?

Also, aren't recruiters permitted to carry while on duty??

LITTLE ROCK, Ark — A man with "political and religious motives" killed a soldier just out of basic training and wounded another Monday in a targeted attack on a military recruiting center in Arkansas, police said. The shootings were not believed to be part of a broader scheme.

A police report based on an interview with the suspect says Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 23, told police he observed two soldiers in uniform, drove up to the recruiting center in Little Rock and started shooting.

"He saw them standing there and drove up and shot them," Lt. Terry Hastings told The Associated Press. "That's what he said."

Muhammad had converted to Islam at some point in his life and interviews with police show he "probably had political and religious motives for the attack," Police Chief Stuart Thomas said.

Muhammad, previously known as Carlos Bledsoe, was not part of a larger group nor was his attack part of a larger conspiracy, Thomas said.

"We believe that it's associated with his disagreement over the military operations," the police chief said.

The two soldiers who were shot had completed basic training within the past two weeks and were not regular recruiters, said Lt. Col. Thomas F. Artis of the Oklahoma City Recruiting Battalion, which oversees the Little Rock office.

William Long, 23, died, and Quinton Ezeagwula, 18, was wounded and in stable condition, Police Chief Stuart Thomas said.

Police arrested Muhammad, 23, along an interstate highway moments after the shootings. Thomas said Muhammad would be charged with first-degree murder, plus 16 counts of committing a terroristic act. Thomas said those counts result from the gunfire occurring near other people.

Witnesses told police that a man inside a black vehicle pulled up outside the recruiting center and opened fire about 10:30 a.m. Long fell onto the sidewalk outside the center while Ezeagwula was able to crawl toward its door.

Police said an assault rifle and other weapons were found in the vehicle when Muhammad was arrested.

No, only military suspects are tried in military court, except under very rare circumstances.

I think federal charges are possible. They'll probably let the locals handle it, if the news media does not play it up real big.

Not only "NO", but "#### NO!!!" Politicians would have a cow if soldiers were allowed to carry anywhere but on guard duty or on an exercise.
