TSU: High School Students Tried To Rob TSU Student
POSTED: Tuesday, June 30, 2009
UPDATED: 3:17 pm CDT June 30, 2009
HOUSTON -- A high school student was critically wounded in a shooting across from Texas Southern University in southeast Houston, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
Police said the shooting happened at a METRO bus stop in the 3400 block of Cleburne shortly before 11:30 a.m.
A TSU spokeswoman said a TSU student was sitting at the bus stop when he was approached by two high school students, who attempted to rob him. The TSU student then pulled out a gun and shot one of the teenagers, the spokeswoman said.
The shooting victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition. His name was not released.
TSU said the robbery suspects attend Jack Yates High School.
Houston police are investigating.

Not much information. Doesn't say if the high schoolers were committing an armed robbery, guess HPD are still investigating. The TSU student better have a concealed weapons permit or he might be toast. I know TX is mostly on the side of the armed citizens, but this seems to be a good bit of ammo for the anti gun crowd, especially if he didn't have permit and the two high school angels weren't armed.

In TX this will go as follows:
Houston Cop to stupid HS thug: Did you try to rob that man at the bus stop?
Stupid HS thug to Houston Cop: Yes, ouch, we, ouch, did.
Houston Cop to stupid HS thug: OK, then the shoot is good, when you get out of the hospital you will be under arrest for attempted robbery and making a starving college student waste money on replacing expensive ammo.

...and as it should be.
These to h.s. thugs got exactly the 'trouble' they were looking for.

Don't know about the armed or unarmed part, but I thought legal eagles considered things like "disparity of threat" (as in multiple assailants against a single victim) too.

In New York, unfortunately, the Good Guy would have been arrested. I can hear the following. "Why did you shoot that young teenager? I dont care if was trying to rob you. He's only a boy you know. I know that you have a permit for that gun. But in addition to arresting you we are going to revoke your CCWP even if you are found not guilty.
WELCOME TO MY STATE. NEW YORK STATE. It SUCKS big time. Bunch of panzy liberals.
