New Zealand - Paraplegic Shooting Rampage

2 days ago we had a licensed firearm owner \ shotgun club member go on a "Suicide by Police" rampage.

Fired about 100 rounds according to police, of shotgun and .308 rounds into surrounding houses.

2 people injured by shotgun (1 member of public and one AOS(swat)).

Just watch the politicians jump on this one and create even more silly rules for us licensed owners.

Funny thing ready the media articles, all obviously going for the anti firearm angle and showing a total lack of understanding about firearms.

QUOTE: "the shooter fired over 100 rounds from a high caliber fire weapon'

    ?????? fire weapon ??????

QUOTE: "the shooter came from a shotgun club whose member made their own ammunition"

????? so reloading is now a sign of being a rampaging gunman ????

Personally I think the police are to blame as

    a) the shooter called the day before saying he was suicidal and got abusive to police.

    b) they knew he had firearms

    c) he had previous convictions relating to alcohol

    d) police were called to his house in regards to BB gun incident.

    That sucks.
I disagree that all the blame should be dumped at the feet of law enforcement. Perhaps they could have done more to avoid the situation, but ultimately the blame lies with the criminal.

Always sad to hear of Suicide by Cop. Sad for the desperate person. And dangerous for LEOs and bystanders.

Wow, when my son was 5 he liked to talk about my "fire guns" as opposed to the bb gun. Maybe a 5 year old wrote this.
