Any word on where she bought the weapon. Isn't it illegal to sell to a 20 year old? Wondering if she bought from a private party. If so what problems might that person have?

She did indeed buy the handgun from a private person. In Tennessee, it is not illegal to make a private sale of a handgun to a person eighteen or older. It is, of course, by national law, illegal for an FFL dealer to sell a handgun to anyone under twenty-one. Unless a prosecutor could somehow prove that the private seller knew she intended to commit a crime, I don't see any repercussions from a criminal standpoint. A civil suit could perhaps be another matter....

To answer the OP question..... powder & powder burns all in the area of the head where the wound was would be present...... if it was shot at close range such as a suicide. They wouldn't be talking trace amounts on her hand...
