Yeah, if there were no reasonable cause for the home-dweller to expect the police, then I wouldn’t open the door. Then again, if you or your partner is a criminal, then you’re likely crawling out of the bathroom window anyway.

    the article:

PHOENIX -- Phoenix police have located two children who were reportedly kidnapped during a home invasion early Tuesday.

A 2-year-old Hispanic boy and a 10-month-old Hispanic girl were home with their mother when four black men forced their way into a home at 1:30 a.m. at 4125 North 28th Drive, just north of Indian School Road, according to police.

Sergeant Andy Hill with the Phoenix Police Department said a witness heard the men yelling they were the police.

    The mother was not hurt.

Police do not think the mother of the children knew the suspects.

Police believe the suspects got away in a white 1990s model Toyota or Honda vehicle.

A Silverado pickup was also in the area parked in the alley near 27th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Police believe the case may have initially been an attempted robbery.

Hill said the children, Jesus Salvador Nunez and Vanessa Salvador Nunez, were dropped off at a house in south Phoenix sometime before 6:20 a.m.

Video from overhead Air15 showed officers holding the children outside the home.

The boy and girl appeared to be unharmed.

Police were seen driving them to a police department building where they were reunited with their family at 7:15 a.m.

    No suspects are in custody.

One suspect was described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall with a heavy set and was wearing blue jean shorts, a black ball cap, and a ballistic vest.

A second suspect was reportedly wearing a dark green t-shirt with blue or black jean shorts.

A third suspect was possibly wearing a dark blue t-shirt

    Glad those kids are safe!

Phoenix is currently the kidnapping capital of the U.S. Almost exclusively drug related.

I'm glad the kids are safe.

Just WAY too many freakin' cases of home invasions out here recently where the bad guys claim to be cops, by command or by apparel or both. The REAL cops locally are pretty circumspect after burning an old couple's house to the ground last year in a bungled raid. Just the same, it's not a comforting exercise to contemplate how to handle an event like that!
