A man is behind bars Thursday morning after being charged in a home invasion and shooting.
According to our sister-station WSPA’s coverage partners at the Herald Journal the suspect is a convicted killer. Authorities in Greer said 37-year-old Ronnie Cleveland Swofford followed a man into his home on Memorial Drive Extension on July 27th and shot him.
The victim returned fire on Swofford. He faces multiple charges including assault and battery with intent to kill and burglary.
Swofford’s arrest comes almost 16 years after he was arrested in the 1993 murder of Bobby Owens in Spartanburg County.
He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter three days into the trial and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
