Im not saying she did the best thing handling this situation
by any means. She made a huge mistake that cost her
life and now her famiy and friends are left suffering
    because of her mistake.
But I for one do consider the woman brave even if foolishly brave
because she stood up to this guy and I bet she had a history of
trying to get the good people in the neighborhood to stand up and
try to take back the neighborhood from the bad guys. She of course
could have handled it better by doing something like forming a citizens
group against the gang bangers and such and yes she should have definitely
    called the police.
Not saying the LEOs were not doing any good at bettering
the neighborhood but from the story it sounds like LEOs were having a
hard time getting things under control so the lady made a stand.
I respect her some for making a stand even if it was foolish is all Im saying.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away. Sometimes, when the LEOs let a neighborhood get out of control, it IS up to the residents to make a difference. I've seen the good people reclaim their neighborhoods by an organized resistance. HOWEVER - if you gotta be a bear, be sure you have teeth. On the good side, maybe her death will awaken the powers-that-be to the problem.

Sounds like "Scooter" needs to meet Sgt. Lucas. If calling his name gets everyone out of the streets they must be scared to death of him.

Yeah I hope so too, but this jerk sounds like a class act coward or perhaps he was up on drugs, etc. Either way, the circumstance reads like’ the neighborhood people were accustomed to policing themselves.

Sounds like the neighborhood needs a good shakedown.
