Shotgun-wielding pregnant woman stops armed teen burglar, says her gun is bigger

MOBILE, Ala. -- A pregnant woman who awoke to a teenager in her house confronted him with a shotgun and put an end to what police said was a Labor Day weekend crime spree.
Justin Delhomme, 18, is in Mobile County Metro Jail tonight on charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree receiving stolen property and unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle, jail records show.
Capt. Eddie Patrick, commander of the Mobile police Fourth Precinct, said Delhomme broke into houses and cars on six west Mobile streets over the Labor Day weekend before he entered the woman's home about 4 a.m. Sunday, awakening her. She cornered him with a shotgun.
When the teenager pulled a handgun on her, Patrick said, she convinced him her gun was bigger and persuaded him to put his weapon away. Delhomme was arrested shortly afterward, Patrick said.
No one was injured.Good job!

How we behave as gun owners is important. Posturing and threatening does not serve us well in the public eye.

Educate me.
My first instinct is
a) the world would really be a better place if she had killed him. because he is not going to learn and the courts will have him out, doing the same thing in the next few years if not months.
b) the cost to taxpayers of dealing with losers is huge if we prosecute, not quite so large if we...don't.
yes I have some conscience and respect for life but it is getting to the point of 'WHY do we BOTHER?!'

I think a lot of people share your sentiments... however, your words border on those of a vigilante.
I am not going to shoot someone unless they need to be shot. She was able to deescalate the situation and that is always the best thing to do.
I believe Mas Ayoob said once... If you survive a gunfight, you're not a winner. You're just the second loser. In other words... when it comes to the point you have to shoot, your life is going to change. And often times, it's not a happy change! Yes, you survived.... but there's a cost that goes along with that.

I have had 2 buddies murdered by theives, and my home state has castle doctrine, if they are inside your house they can be shot at will.
