North Syracuse, New York (WSYR-TV) - North Syracuse Police say they are not filing any charges against the man who shot and killed two people who broke into his home around 1 o'clock Saturday morning at 115 Elm Street.

They say Jeffrey Bush, 22 was acting in self defense when 23-year-old Thomas Lashomb and 26-year-old Wade Brown, both of Syracuse, forced their way into the home and attacked him.

A friend, who was at Bush's home, jumped in and began fighting with Brown. That's when Bush fired a shotgun at Lashomb, killing him. He then shot Brown who died on the way to the hospital.

Police also tell NewsChannel 9 that Bush's home was targeted and they believe he knew Lashomb in some capacity. However, they are still working to find out a motive.

Officers will be handing the case over to the Onondaga County District Attorney's office so it can review the evidence. It is unclear whether charges will be filed by the D.A.

Great "2-fer"...another well-deserved lead treat for two scumbags willing to enter someone's castle. I have no problem with the results...glad the homeowner was cleared.

I love the classic "this is a safe neighborhood, things like that don't happen around here" quote. Isn't that what people always tell the reporter while the cops are photographing bodies?

Hmmm... I guess there was no need to have a gun in the home, eh? NOT!!!

Well, stuff like that DOES happen. Anyplace, anytime. And you can choose to be prepared; or not. To argue that guns are not needed due to the rarity of crime makes no sense to me at all; it's like saying fires are rare, so why have a fire extinguisher?
Anti-gunners seem to believe that if we just pass enough laws, we can have utopia. Unfortunately, utopia is NOT one of our choices.

Don't rejoice yet, this is New York. That DA might have a trick or two up his sleeve. The story went from "no charges will be filed" to "It's unclear whether charges will be filed".

Police say home invasion victim acted in self defense
One would think it hard to come to any other conclusion. 1am, criminals crash through the perimeter then beat on the occupants ... Hm. Gee, Bob, that looks like "home invasion" and "self-defense" to me. What do you think?

Unless there is some pretty conclusive evidence to the contrary, stopping criminals during the invasion of one's home is, by definition, self-defense, yes?

Shotgun, eh? Now wait - I thought NY banned "assault weapons."

    Oh, shotguns aren't "assault weapons"?

Then how do we make sure that law-abiding citizens can't shoot criminal scumbags now????

Heh, that's what I love about shotguns - they are so effective for home defense and yet the leftist loonies don't know it yet.

The law could say he used excessive force. He first should have asked them to leave and if they didn't he should have called the police. Just because someone breaks in your house doesn't mean your life is in danger. They probably just wanted to borrow a cup of sugar and if they have a record you shouldn't hold that against them because they were trying to turn their life around. Larry
