Deliveryman reports assault, robbery

Roanoke police are looking for two people who on Friday assaulted and took money from a pizza delivery driver.

A Papa John's pizza driver made a delivery in the 2300 block of Highland Farms Road Northwest and was returning to his car when two males approached him, police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said.

They assaulted the driver and demanded money, Johnson said. They took an undisclosed amount of money and fled.

The victim drove to Ferncliff Avenue and Hershberger Road and called police about 10:45 p.m.

It is unclear what, if any, injuries the victim suffered, but Johnson said he was not taken to a hospital.

No one has been arrested. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 853-5959 or Crime Line at 344-8500.
