Winston-Salem, NC -- Two Winston-Salem police officers have been shot at a Bojangles' restaurant on Peters Creek Parkway. The officers have been taken to Baptist Hospital.
Winston-Salem Police confirmed in a 2:30 media briefing that the suspect involved has been shot dead.
The two policemen, Daniel Clark and Mickey Hutchens, are both patients at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Officer Clark, 28, is listed in serious condition. He has been on the force for 5 years.
Sgt. Hutchens, 50, is listed in critical condition. He has been on the force with 27 years.
Emergency crews were called to the restaurant around 10:30 am after reports of shots fired. A police spokesperson says officers were initially called to the Bojangles' after the robbery alarm went off.
During a 1:20 pm briefing with Assistant Police Chief Barry Rountree, we learned that a chase led the suspect and officers near the Salem Creek area where some sort of struggle ensued.
Police say the call was for reported domestic violence. The suspect's wife worked at the Bojangles, according to police.
