Apparently, the husband was a parole officer, as well as a former prison guard. Now, he's also a murderer.

From what I understand and the word on PAFOA is it was a murder/suicide. Her husband was a LEO and killed her, then apparently killed himself. Donít quote me on this, but this is the word now. The antiís will have a tough time spinning this if in fact it was her husband (the LEO) who shot and killed her. As someone on PAFOA said, even if LEOís were the only ones allowed to have guns, this still would have happened.

Taken from Lebanon Police Investigate Apparent Murder-Suicide - Local News Story - WGAL The Susquehanna Valley:

"The little boy said, 'Daddy shot mommy. That's what Tyler said to Mark," said neighbor Aileen Fortna.

Tyler is the couple's oldest son and Mark is a neighbor.

Thank you for the post jahwarrior72, my condolences for the loss of your friend. I could feel your anger and frustration as I read through it. Very sad outcome to what sounded like a very nice individual.

    Open-carrying Soccer Mom, Husband Dead

If this is the wrong forum, I apologize, but this lady made serious news open carrying last year. I thought the comments of the judge made it appropriate to post the link here.

Also note who offered to pay the judge's legal fees when the lady filed suit against him.

I'm afraid the anti's are going to have a field day with this story.

VERY BAD: PA Gun toting Soccer Mom Dead in Murder-Suicide

Gun-Toting Soccer Mom, Husband Shot Dead - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com

LEBANON, Pennsylvania — A soccer mom who gained national attention when she openly carried a loaded gun to her 5-year-old daughter's game was shot dead Wednesday along with her husband in what appeared to be a murder-suicide, police said.

Meleanie Hain and Scott Hain were pronounced dead Wednesday night at their home in Lebanon, a small city about 80 miles west of Philadelphia.

The couple's three children were home at the time but weren't hurt, police said. They were taken to stay with friends and relatives.

Meleanie Hain, 31, and Scott Hain, 33, had been having marital problems for about a week, neighbor Mark Long said. Scott Hain had left the couple's home on Tuesday, and Meleanie Hain didn't know where he was, but he returned Wednesday, Long said.

Autopsies on the Hains were to be conducted Thursday, coroner Dr. Jeffrey Yocum said.

Meleanie Hain made headlines after she attended a children's soccer game in a park on Sept. 11, 2008, with a handgun in plain view holstered on her hip, upsetting other parents.

The county sheriff, Michael DeLeo, revoked her gun-carrying permit nine days later.

Hain successfully appealed the permit revocation, although the judge who restored the permit questioned her judgment and said she had "scared the devil" out of other people at the game.

Hain sued DeLeo in federal court, alleging that he violated her constitutional rights and prosecuted her maliciously when he took the permit away. She said that because of his actions her baby-sitting service had suffered, her children had been harassed and she had been ostracized by her neighbors in Lebanon, which has about 25,000 residents.

DeLeo said at Hain's appeal that he revoked her permit after fielding the parents' complaints. He said he based his decision on a state law that prohibits certain gun permits from being given to anyone whose character and reputation make him or her a danger to public safety.

After Hain sued DeLeo, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, which says it tries to reform the gun industry through sensible regulations, offered to defend him for free.

"It is a case that calls out for common sense," Brady Center attorney Daniel Vice said then. "It's ridiculous to bring a gun to a child's soccer game."

A court hearing on Hain's $1 million lawsuit was postponed in May after an attorney in the case was involved in a traffic accident.
Holy crap this is bad news all around. It is incredibly sad that these two people were killed, and that these children no longer have parents.

It is also incredibly sad for what the setback and bad PR this will be for gun rights, not only in PA, but possibly nationwide. I can see the wheels turning over at the Brady Center for how they can spin and market this nationwide.

Now these 3 kids, who most likely are now traumatized toward firearms, might become Brady members for life, and spend a great deal of effort speaking out against firearms in the home. This is exactly how Sarah Brady got started . . . if only Hinckley had used a crossbow.

This news certainly makes my blood boil on so many levels

It is a tragedy that incidents like this happen, whether or not firearms are involved.

I just read that and was going to post on it.

I don't think this is going to be good press for a while.

Maritial problems for one week and then murder suicide. I suppose that could be the case, but more than likely things have been going downhill for a while.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Unfortunately, the truth of what happened won't matter much to the Brady's or the media. They will beat this story like a tamborine at a 3yr old's birthday party.
"Run for your life from the man who tells you that money is evil. That sentence is the leper's bell of an approaching looter. So long as men live together on earth and need means to deal with one another-their only substitute, if they abandon money, is the muzzle of a gun."

Condolences and prayers to the children, of course. No matter what else may be true about their parents, they neither deserved nor earned any of this.

Correct, rather, as he did commit murder. In the eyes of most, murderer he was and murderer he'll remain (wherever his residue [or whatever] has now gone). In addition, he's now dead.

    Yep.

Further it will also be counted as another husband shooting a wife, and as a mother being victimized by gun crime.
    A trifecta. :|

Never mind that it takes a person with mental faculty issues to to make such a choice (!) to take such action...as by any manner be it with a gun or by driving yourself and children into a lake with intent to drown.
